YOGA
At Base Community, we teach Yang yoga, better known as power yoga. This is a body and mind workout where you train your entire body. This form of yoga is efficient for making you stronger throughout the body, in addition to making you more flexible (you will notice this even during the class)!
In addition to the physical benefits of yoga, it promotes calm. This is because during the class you must be in the present, forcing you to forget your surroundings and daily activities. This being in the present is because power yoga demands nonstop attention to perform the exercises. Power yoga has a special way of breathing; this form requires you to always breathe through the nose so that your brain can relax and concentrate on what you are doing. This is also one of the things that makes power yoga so difficult when you are just starting out. To master this, you are guided through it at the beginning of the class so that you enter your own bubble and can maintain this breathing technique more easily throughout the lesson. Some poses will be difficult and perhaps you will never succeed, but in this you learn the process of letting go.
What can you expect from us?
A power yoga class lasts 45-60 minutes and is divided into 3 parts. The first 7-10 minutes begin with grounding. Here, you connect with yourself and your roots. This is the moment where it is just about you, your breath, and the movements. After grounding, we move on to the asanas. These are the positions and flows where you usually start standing and end with flows that are more on the ground. The class ends with a final relaxation of approximately 10 minutes called savasana. Yoga as a form of exercise can release emotions, but don't worry about this! At Base, you are in a safe environment where everything is welcome.
Delfi teaches down-to-earth classes and manages to combine the spiritual and physical aspects of yoga without becoming airy-fairy.
